Rural Health Clinic Accreditation

The Joint Commission began exploring this new accreditation program to extend our consistent quality framework to outpatient care delivery and align with rural health and health equity initiatives. Our requirements are a practical, industry-vetted framework to help you minimize risk and boost consistency in how care and services are delivered.

Our standards focus on key operational areas that most impact the safety and quality of health care services, such as:

  • Staff competency
  • Patient assessment
  • Medication management
  • Infection control

Achieving accreditation is a visible demonstration to patients and the community that your organization provides the highest quality services.

Apply Today

The Rural Health Clinic accreditation program is expected to be available mid-2024, meaning the official application and onsite reviews will be available at that time.

This pre-application is an abbreviated questionnaire that allows an organization to identify a ready date for their initial onsite survey and enter the scheduling queue. This is ideal for organizations that hope to be surveyed during the first few months after launch.

Once the formal application opens, we will contact you to complete the entire application. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the program requirements or the pre-application process, please reach out to your Business Development representative at [email protected].

Note: Initial surveys are scheduled according to surveyor availability, accessibility to your area based on COVID rates, and other factors. As a result, your ready date is not guaranteed to be the date we visit. Rather, we will schedule the survey as close to your ready date as possible (but not before). The ready date indicates that your organization meets Joint Commission eligibility requirements, standards, and is ready to accept a survey.
